Avon Land Trust acquires Broad Brook parcel

The Avon Land Trust is proud to announce the acquistion of a new parcel of land today. The parcel, located at 679 West Avon Road, was generously donated to the Land Trust by Janet Conlin. The Big Brook flows thru the property, which flows into Thompson Brook, which flows into the Farmington River, then the Connecticut River, and ultimately Long Island Sound. The wetlands on the property serve as important wildlife habitat, as well as a buffer area that helps keep nitrates out of our waterways. Attorney Paul Potanka of Canton (but who grew up in Avon) completed the necessary legal documents. This is the second acquisition by the Avon Land Trust in the past year, as we continue our work preserving open space for future generations.
