Qualified Charitable Distribution

Did you know you can make a gift from your IRA to reduce your taxable income while supporting the Avon Land Trust?

If you are 70½ or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) of up to $111,000 a year (2026 limit) directly from your IRA to the Avon Land Trust. QCD’s can be used to satisfy required minimum distributions (RMDs) if made before other withdrawals are taken to satisfy your RMD. Hence, QCD’s can lower the amount of RMD distributions that are taxable. Consult with your tax advisor.

How do I make a QCD?

Contact your IRA Custodian to request a QCD be made to Avon Land Trust for a specific dollar amount. Your administrator may need Avon Land Trust’s mailing address:

Avon Land Trust,
PO Box 267,
Avon, CT 06001

The IRA custodian will distribute the check directly to ALT, and we will notify you once received.
